The Parkinson Instrument Collection
Mr. Carol Parkinson spent a lifetime researching, collecting and documenting musical instruments. He developed a presentation titled 6000 years of Music explaining the development of musical instrumentation. It was presented to schools through the midwest from Canada to Mexico.
This collection now resides at the Plymouth County Historical Museum.
The Instrument Display
A large room off the office presents a sizeable quantity of the instrument collection.
The room contains a large collection of keyboard instruments, string instruments, and a sampling of percussion, brass and woodwind instruments.
Portions of the Collection not on Display
In addition to the displays in the music room, there is a sizeable quantity of instruments that are not on display, and are simply in storage.
Photo Inventory
A partial Photo Inventory of the collection was conducted by Kenton Scott and Frank Heath in October 2011. The results of which are displayed in the several pages linked in the left hand column of this page. They images are divided up into Early Brass Instruments (up through the Civil War era), more recent Brass Instruments, and Woodwinds.
