Odell trumpet (no Thompson)

Thought I'd move this to a higher-traffic area. Can also be found in the Thompson and Odell category...

If you search for Odell trumpets on this site, you will find 04321 - an Odell All-American.

I just came across that very horn, and would like to try and establish its history.

Is the Odell brand from before Thompson and Odell, or after?

The trumpet is in remarkably good shape, in an antique store in Cold Lake Alberta. A couple tiny dings, valves and slides are lubed and move freely.

The dealer would like to know a fair asking price; and I (retired horn player) want to know if it's something that should be saved by a collector rather than made into a garden fountain or given to a Jr High beginner.

Does it have any value as a historical instrument?

Thompson and Odell took over from Quinby - using their tools.  But by the time that they starting using Thompson and Odell as their brand name, it appears that they were stenciling rather than manufacturing.

Standard logo seems to be the earlier configuration of the company.

My sense is that the Odell name was used for instruments that the company was proud of, but at the moment I don't find documentation for that assertion.

Vega history is also mixed up  in there.

All the trumpets marked "Odell" that I have found are stencils of the American Triumph model made by Harry Pedler & Sons in Elkhart. They were a student model sold to many different dealers who added their own name. No real historic or monetary value. These date from the 1930s to 1950s.

I just looked up the All American model you mentioned. That is a stencil made by Cavalier, the cheapest student model trumpet you could get from Pan American, a division of Conn. Look up that brand here and you will see a match.
