Eckensberger instrument are relatively young. Father Alfred started his shop in 1964 and son Andreas took over in 1999.
Chemnitz is indeed located in former East-Germany, but during that time (from 1953 on) was called Karl-Marx-Stadt. After the fall of the Wall, it was renamed back to Chemnitz in 1990.
