Humphrey Artists model

My neighbor has an older trumpet in his garage. It has an etched rose and some pretty designs and is etched “Humphrey Artist Model”
A serial number of 9092. It is silver in color. The older case has a parrot decal on the side (not sure if it’s just a decal someone put on it)
Any info would be greatly appreciated as to the manufacturer and possible age.

Many thanks!

I don't know the brand.  And, it has not come up before that I recall.  It is most likely a store brand.  Which then probably means that is was made by another maker and then the store put its own markings on it.  If it is domestically made, a good place to check is for similar instruments from Pan American.

I did a search of the "Music Trade Review" archives at arcade-museum.com and the only major music house found was the Humphrey Music Co of Long Beach, CA. It was started by Donald E. Humphrey back in 1916 and was still going in 1941. There was mention of a band instrument department in 1929 so it's possible your friend's trumpet came from there. It would have been made by another company with Humphrey adding their own label.
This would make more sense if you are in the Long Beach area since these would not have been sold outside the area.
