Need help identifing Trumpet (Read 9122 times)

	Hello and thank you in advance my dad recently gave my son his trumpet he played in high school. The varnish has broken down and i am debating getting the horn restored.Being frugal minded i dont want to drop a $1000 on a $200 trumpet. i have researched everything i can on the horn but have not gotten anywhere. This is what i do know the horn was purchased in th 60's in new orleans the receiver is stamped 1961. The trumpet is also inscribed with the word "delta" and is marked made in italy. Obviously this horn has sentimental value but i also want to be resonable with the amount of money to get it restored. I pain $165 to get it "playing" and to get a brace repaired that i have included a photo of on the dropbox link that does not look very impressive to me. 	I'll let some of the other folks advance their opinions, but the first thought that came to me, is that this is likely a horn that was imported by a local music store who then engraved and sold it. It probably doesn't have much resale value. But, it is also nice to have a horn - particularly for a young player - that looks nice. So, a reasonable alternative may be to strip off the remaining lacquer and then polish it up. It will need to be re-polished periodically, but it will play at least as well as it currently does.

	Kenton thank you for the reply. Can I bother you one more time for your opinion on the repair that was made? The square tubing as a support looks like a hack job? Or am I wrong and this is a common type of repair

	If I understand your inquiry correctly, the square tubing is not just bracing. It is intended to be a bracket to hold a music lyre for when the horn is being used on the march.

	Hi, Ken's right, not much value behind that, the bell(see thin line) is soldered to the conical part (not one piece...). It looks pretty done but can be polished up, the length is obviously more than 130cm, perhaps a Eb fanfare

	This looks like an Orsi stencil [the Made in Italy stamp and serial on the 2nd casing, design, etc.]. I've heard some are okay, some not, though I need to try one out sometime
