George Albert Spelbring (1864-1956) was a music professor at Western Normal College in Shenandoah, Iowa when it burned in 1891. They moved the college to Lincoln, NE following this. The vocal horn pictured here is from the 1891-1895 period since he was in Salem, NE by 1895. By 1902 he moved to Silver City, Iowa to become the secretary for his father-in-law’s business Greenwood Lumber Co. Spelbring was never an actual maker.
