  • 1844 Hannah Hunt Squire born in Ohio in December
  • 1861-62 Alfred serves as band leader, Ohio 59th CW unit
  • 1864 Alfred serves as band leader, Ohio 153rd CW unit
  • 1870 first listing in June directory, A. Squire, dealer in music and musical instruments, 177 W. 4th St.
  • 1871 now also a publisher of military band music
  • 1874 moves to 173 Elm St. 1875 son William Horace Squire born December 5th
  • 1876 music book (top photo) states that he is a dealer in brass & German silver band instruments
  • 1878 moves to 216 Elm St., importer & manuf. of m.i.
  • 1878-1895 at 216 Elm St. 1886-1903 Squire’s Musical Advertiser (monthly)
  • 1890 Alfred dies on May 29th of pneumonia, home at #3104 8th St. in Price Hill
  • 1890-1894 widow Hannah runs the music store
  • 1895-1902 A. Squire’s Music house, J.E. Hunt, proprietor (possibly a brother to Hannah)
  • 1896-1902 music store at 528 Elm St.
  • 1898 Hannah Squire dies on April 24th; Anna F. Squire is listed at the same home address as a music teacher (daughter?)
  • 1903 J.E. Hunt and Squire’s music store both gone Bb Cornet (2nd & 3rd photos) is a copy of the Courtois Koenig model cornet from about 1870 and probably made by Gatrout of France
