  • 1909 H. Slingerland, music teacher, #105 Ashland St.
  • 1914 Henry Heanon Slingerland (1875-1946) purchases the Chicago Correspondence School of Music and changes it to the Slingerland Correspondence School of Music; #431 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago Slingerland Logo
  • 1918 H. Slingerland, proprietor of music school, #616 S. Michigan Blvd., Chicago
  • 1923 first factory building at #1815 Orchard St for making ukuleles, banjos, & guitars
  • 1927 Slingerland starts making drums
  • 1930 Henry Slingerland, musical instrument maker, home at #846 Monroe Ave., River Forest
  • 1935 Slingerland Banjo & Drum Co., Belden Ave & Ward St.; bugle models available are Howard C. Knobel, Professional, Regulation, Tenor, & Short
  • 1941 at #1330 Belden Ave.
  • 1946 Henry dies on March 13; son Henry Jr. (1921-1980) takes ownership at this time
  • 1959 Slingerland Drum Co. is moving to a new 45,000 sf building at #6630 N. Milwaukee, Niles, IL
  • 1962 Henry Jr. (Bud) starts the Solar Musical Instrument Co. in Shelbyville, TN for drum making
  • 1973 Slingerland adds a 19,800 sf addition to their facility
  • 1980 the company is sold to Mardan Corp. probably following Bud’s death
  • 1994 Slingerland now purchased by Gibson
