Roehn trained with GA Besson in Paris, went on to be a foreman with Beauboeuf. Langwill states he established his own shop in 1853.

However, M. Roehn is listed in the Rapport du Jury Central sur les Produits de l’Agriculture et de l’Industrie 1849 as a manufacturer of Brass instruments. He also received a "Special Mention" CF level for a Clairon Chromatique at the Nationale de Paris 1849.

Sued Sax over patents in 1858.
