In 1946, 13 instrument makers from Graslitz were in Waldkraiburg.
They had few tools with them but plenty of knowledge. They began first with repairs of metal wind instruments.
In 1947, they decided to build new instruments. Only one year later the MIRAPHONE brand name appeared.
he company is Miraphone, Mirafone was what it was sold as in the US. When Miraphone opened a US distributorship, they thought that Yanks would think the name looked more like a telephone or sousaphone- so they changed the spelling to what they thought Americans would consider more "German"-like: Mirafone. Now, they just use Miraphone.
