Started his business in 1839, with his son, Frank. They initially sold pianos. Brass instrument making began in 1883, using, former Fiske employees, and supervised by Carl Anger. Samuel died in 1885, but Frank continued the business until 1915. In addition to their own Light Piston instrument they also sold Missenharters. Model names include New Ideal and Eclipse and appear to have began use after 1885, (Eclipse is shown in the 1895 catalog.) They were located at 446 Main St. 1883-1915. Leland was also a dealer, band leader and publisher.
