Jean Hilaire Aste established his business in 1804 under the name of Halary Aste. Halary Logo He was 1815 commissioned by the Grand Duke Konstantin of Russia to make a keyed bugle. He was succeeded by Jean Louis Antoine in 1824, who used the name Antoine dit Halary or Halari. He died in 1861, and was succeeded by his son Jules Leon Antoine (1788-1861) who used Halary fils.

He was a signatory of letter protesting Saxs patents.

In 1861 he was succeeded by his son, Jules Leon Antoine

In 1873, he sold the firm to Coste & Cie.
