Horn-u-Copia's Display of Makers

Gerbeth & Seifert . This partnership was active from 1868 to 1972. They apparently took over from Christian R. Stark, and used the same address as did Stark.

• 1859-65 Christian R. Stark has a musical instrument business at 181 Chrystie St.
• c1866 Gerbeth & Seifert are successors to Stark at 181 Chrystie (August F. Gerbeth & Ferdinand Seifert)
• 1867 in Feb, a fire damages their shop on the second floor of #181 Chrystie, they manufacture brass instruments
• 1868 G&S is now at 203 Forsyth St.
• 1872 G&S is now at 179 Chrystie St.
• 1875 gone from NYC listing
• 1876 August Gerbeth, musical inst, home 192 Orchard
• 1882 A. Gerbeth, musical inst maker, home 9 Ave A in Brooklyn
• 1885 same address
• 1889 Gerbeth home now at 32 King St.
• 1897 Gerbeth home now at 232 E. 10th St.
