Established his business in 1839. Located at 34 Cross St. until 1845. Gisborne Logo From 1852 added Maker to the Army to his logo. In 1864, changed to Gisborne & Son, and was located at 37 Suffolk St. 1867 logo said Henry Charles Gisborne, in 1875 back to Gisborne & Son, and from 1894 as Alfred Hall Gisborne. From 1902, located at Vere St. In 1913 the company was succeeded by Peerless Coy.

1851 Great Exhibition: Official Catalogue: Class X.: James Gisbourne 507. GISBORNE, JAMES, 37 Suffolk Street, Birmingham - Inventor and Manufacturer. Cornopeans. Trombo conmta, or drawing-room cornopean. Sax horns in B flat alto, and E flat soprano. Keyed bugle. Long valve trumpet. Double sax horn in A flat alto, and E flat tenor: the performer while playing upon this peculiar instrument, can, by using the extra valve with the left hand, without taking the instrument from his lips, glide from the alto to the tenor clef, and vice versa, with facility.
