Frederick came to the United States, from Germany, in 1848, and possibly trained under Lehnert. He produced brass instruments from 1880 to 1913.
1880: listed in US census as instrument maker
1883 Established in Philadelphia at 538 N. 9th.St.
1895: listed in Boyds City Directory at 438 North 9th St.
1900: son George Frederick listed in Boyds Directory at same address
9/30/1913: Philip dies and his widow Christina became the proprietor along with sons George & Charles.
1914: manufacturing ceased and they advertised as dealers and repairers of instruments
