Simon Whitney Draper, 1819-1875, instrument maker with Graves & Co. in 1854; part of Draper Bros. 1861-62; piano maker 1869-75

Granville Whitney Draper: 1821-?; brother of S.W.; part of Draper Bros. 1861-62; Draper, Holliday & Cook 1863; maker with Charles G. 1864-65

image Charles Granville Draper: 1853-?; son of Granville; possibly the Charles G. who worked with the brothers 1862-65 but he would have been very young; poss. wrong birth date

Simon Eugene & John Robert: sons of Simon W. and both involved in piano making & tuning in the 1870s & 80s

Alonzo Draper: 1805-1862; oldest brother; music teacher in Boston 1843-1862; not involved in instrument making

  • 1845 Simon W.; patent #4,082 for pianoforte improvement image
  • 1854 Simon W. Draper is part of Graves & Co., 18 Harvard Pl., he is only with them this one year then gone until 1861
  • 1857 Granville Draper is a clerk for this year only
  • 1861 Draper Brothers (S.W. & Granville), 82 Sudbury St., Simon & Granville are both living in Dedham
  • 1862 Draper Bros. listed but only a Charles Draper is shown as a musical instrument maker; Simon & Granville are absent; court records list S & G as insolvent in April, 1862
  • 1863 Draper (Granville), Halliday (Gavin) & Cook (P.H.) are listed as musical instrument makers, 94-1/2 Utica St., one year only; Charles & Granville are living at 120 Kneeland image
  • 1864-65 Charles G. & Granville are listed at 94-1/2 Utica St. 1866-67 Charles is still at 120 Kneeland St. but Granville is gone 1868 Charles G. is now also gone
  • 1869 Simon W. Draper is back as a piano maker; a Charles G. is listed as a carpenter but at a different home address so not sure if he is the same one
  • 1871 Simon W. & Simon E. Draper are both piano makers living at 25 Vernon St.
  • 1870s Simon W., Simon E., John R., & Eugene Draper are piano makers; John at times listed as a piano tuner
