The Brass instrument Factory was founded in 1849. From 1858 till 1862 Stoy shared his factory with Woodwind instrument maker J. Siering and from 1862 till 1875 they used the name Stoy & Siering. Split in 1875. After Stoys death (1895) his widow takes over the firm till in 1896 when their son Richard Stoy takes over. In 1900 the name Stoy & Siering comes back and the firm works under this name till 1932. If a instrument from Stoy is engraved with the name C.W. Stoy then it means it is made in 1895 or 1896. Stoys widow used this for a year C.W. means Caroline Widow.
