Moses Slater was both a maker and an importer of medium-quality musical instruments

Slater came to the US in 1841.

1865: He was in business as Slater; address 538 Broadway

1866: 707 Broadway

1867: he was in partnership with ST Gordon as Gordon and Slater;

1867: 707 Broadway and 41 Greene

1868: he was in partnership with GR Martin as Martin & Slater,

1869: 221 Greene

1871: as Slater & Martin.

1871: 36 Courtlandt

1875: as Moses Slater, (1879-81 in association with Distin).

1875: 42 Courtlandt

1899: Slater died

1889: 56 Vesey and 41 Union Square

1901: 56 Vesey and 43 Murray

1905: 145 E 55th

1912: 126 W34th

1913: Adeline Slader (widow of Moses) continued the company with Harry and William Fort as owners

1922 The company was still active business per NY Tribune Ad

1923 Incorporated under the name of King-Slater Co., with E Unger and A. Hafner owners

1925 Added a store at 12 Union Square

1927 Moved full enterprise to 12 Union Square

1929 Last ad found for the company.
