Silver Tone was a trade name used by Sears Robuck & Co.; Silvertone was a trade name used by Montgomery Wards Inc. ; and, White also used Silvertone.

In 1915, used the tradename Silvertone on a phonograph, followed by radios.

In the 1930s, the Silvertone name replaced the Supertone brand on musical instruments. And, they went on to use the brand for many other items including records, tape recorders, TVs, hearing aids, etc.

By the 1970s the Silvertone name was limited to musical instruments, stereos and televisions. Its use was discontinued by 1973.

M. DuPont is a tradename used by Sears for instruments imported from France.

There is also a Eugene Dupont, an inventor in Elkhart, who was a Distin employee in London and was briefly in partnership with Conn.

Marceau was a trade name employed by Sears Robuck Co. for instruments imported from Czechoslovakia.

There was also a Pierre Marceau, & Cie, in Paris, who was a dealer.

Tourville a tradename used probably for Bohland and Fuchs made instruments.

Bandmaster was a tradename used by Sears and several other makers.

• The 1945 Sears catalog does not list any instruments, it being wartime, but it does have a page touting their instrument repair services.

• 1974 Sears catalog lists a line of instruments, but they have no brand name listed, just that they were made in Elkhart.
