Glier is a family of well known at the end of the 18th century as string makers and instrument dealers. They were in many location Marknewkirchen, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, etc.
LI FRA is a trademark for the Glier Family from Frankfurt. The logo on the horn is reminiscent of the Famous square called the Rumer. The Glier family is one of the oldest families selling and manufacturing brass and woodwind instruments in the Vogtland area of Germany (Saxony near the Czech border). Klinenthal to be exact. From early 1800;'s the family spread their wings beyond the Vogtland as far away as St Petersburg in Russia and finally to Frankfurt am Main (1829). In the 1850's in Klinenthal, they expanded manufacturing to accordions.
After August died in 1897, his sons, Paul and Otto, took over the firm. After Otto died (1914) Paul went on alone. The Glier Firm did not make horns but had them made by small local makers. It seems they were sellers of the Kuhnl and Hoyer brass instruments. They also received instrument from Richard Jacob (before 1928), Gebruder Jacob (in between 1928-1938), Arthur Jacob (after 1938), Paul Monnig and the VEB Scchsische Musikinstrumentenfabrik, Klingenthal (app.1946-1953). Beutelmusik appears to be the successor company in Frankfurt.
