In 192, 194, Wabash Ave., Chicago from 1857 - 1930, and in 125, 127, 129 Sts., Cor. Lesington Ave, New York 1868-1890. If he actually made instruments in Chicago in the 1860s, he would be the earliest maker in Chicago.

Julius Bauer was best known as an importer and retailer of all manner of small musical instruments.

J. Bauer of New York and Chicago ran a display ad in every Grinnell, IA newspaper of 1871 and 72, and one would suppose other papers, too.
